The Sound of Ultra

Silly Comparison to Ultra Sound - The Sound of Ultra Versus The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music's 1965 screenplay by Ernest Lehman and collaborative book effort of Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse was based on Maria von Trapp's autobiography. Not very ultra sound, some would argue.

Let's compare the sound of music to ultra sound.

Loudness:
  • Audibly pleasing at 50 - 80 dB;
  • Not as fun as a rock concert at 80 - 120 dB.

Pitch: Four octaves (Julie Andrews' vocal range).

The Sound of Ultra's 2010 prominence in medical diagnosis began around 1945 when Karl & Friederich Dussik employed ultrasound in medical diagnosis by attempting to locate brain tumors by measuring an ultrasound beam through the skull producing echo images of the ventricles of the brain recorded photographically on heat-sensitive paper. Their ultra sound experiments were based on the 1826 work by Jean-Daniel Colladon about the speed of sound under water.

Ultra Sound Loudness:
  • Undetectable and harmless at medical usage of less than 0dBA.
  • Deafening at 120+ dB;
  • Harmful to human body due to heat at 155+ dB;
  • Deadly at 180+ dB.

Pitch: 20,000+ hertz. (inaudible)

There you have it. Ultra sound is more useful than the sound of music, but the sound of music sounds better.

Ultrasound Machines & Ultra Sound Safety

Are Ultrasound Machines Safe?
Yes. Exceptions:
  • Excess of 120 dB may lead to hearing loss.
  • Excess of 155 dB may harm the human body due to heat.
  • Exposures above 180 dB may lead to death.

Ultra, or beyond the norm, when used to describe sound waves as in "ultra sound", is that which exceeds a frequency that a human ear can detect. Normally a human can hear approximately 20 hertz to 20,000 hertz. Ultra sound, as applied to diagnostic imaging or therapy, can be employed to analyze or even treat medical conditions. It applies sound energy at a frequency higher than the human ear can detect, or 20,000 hertz, hence the name ultra sound.

Ultrasound machines use Ultra sound in a generally safe manner. What makes medical sonography safe is its high frequency and low loudness, lack of radiation, and skillful application by trained sonographers. When it comes to ultrasound, machines of this complexity are only to be used by trained ultrasound technicians or sonogram machine operators who are experts in medical ultrasound. Machines are very expensive and highly advanced.

Ultrasound machines by Biosound Esaote are well suited to diagnosing endocrinological and otolaryngological issues, and are offered exclusively in America by DrSmart.com, Smartsound Ultrasound.

Sonograms Can Be Indecent Exposure

Your Epidermis Is Showing - on YouTube

People have gone beyond showing epidermis on Youtube, they're showing sonograms. Sonograms of uncovered body parts, fetal sonograms, a baby sonogram.

Baby sonograms for example could be considered child porn. Furthermore, maybe some women aren't shy about showing their inner selves off in videos, but maybe their child doesn't want to be paraded around in public uncovered. Surely an unborn child still has rights, including the right to privacy. Can the public display of a sonogram of an unborn child, of course without clothes, be considered child porn?

People, most of us anyway, do not like to be seen in public without our clothes on.

If you can't be seen in your undies, or less, should people see you without your skin?

So, are there any ethical or moral issues surrounding sonogram videos in public? LOL, this debate has been opened by Smartsound Ultrasound, purveyors of body surveyors, a.k.a. dealer of sonogram machines, equipment, and supplies.
